Artificial Intelligence in Ophthalmology: AEOS Webinar with Professor Lama Al-Aswad
How can artificial intelligence contribute to the future of eye care? The Arab-European Ophthalmological Society (AEOS) invites professionals, researchers, and students to explore this question in its webinar, “Transformation of Care Through Innovation.”
Taking place on 5 October at 20:00 Berlin time, the live Zoom session features Professor Lama Al-Aswad, MD, MPH, speaking on “Artificial Intelligence in Ophthalmology – Transforming Patient Care.”
Connecting Medicine, Engineering, and Public Health
Professor Al-Aswad brings an interdisciplinary perspective to the discussion. At the University of Pennsylvania’s Perelman School of Medicine, she holds the titles of Professor of Ophthalmology and Irene Heinz Given and John LaPorte Given II Research Professor of Ophthalmology.
Her affiliations also include the University of Pennsylvania’s School of Engineering and Applied Science and Columbia University’s Mailman School of Public Health.
This combination of disciplines provides a foundation for examining AI through clinical, technological, and public health perspectives.
Exploring AI’s Role in Patient Care
The webinar will focus on AI’s evolving role in ophthalmology, with attention to diagnostics, access to care, and patient outcomes.
For participants, the session offers an opportunity to consider how technological developments connect with clinical needs and the wider delivery of eye care. The discussion will place patient care at the centre of the conversation about innovation.
