AEOS Participation in the SGMA – The First Chapter Conference
On September 6th, the Arab-European Ophthalmological Society (AEOS) took part in the SGMA – The First Chapter Conference, held at the Steigenberger Hotel in Cologne, Germany. AEOS was represented by its Chairman of the Board, joining distinguished figures active in the Syrian medical and social sectors.
AEOS’s participation reflects its strong belief in the role of the Syrian German Medical Association (SGMA) as a pioneering platform for medical and community work in Syria. SGMA serves as a vital bridge between Germany and Syria in the healthcare field, while also strengthening the connection between Syrians in the diaspora and their homeland. This initiative empowers Syrian professionals to contribute to their country’s recovery after years of conflict.
During the conference, AEOS emphasized that aligning visions and goals between AEOS and SGMA has led to genuine partnerships. These collaborations are expected to grow, with the aim of including all local associations concerned with this important national cause.
In addition, AEOS highlighted the importance of establishing democratic structures in healthcare. Such frameworks ensure that professionals are represented on institutional foundations, independent of personal interests and groupings. This approach fosters a healthy environment for collaboration and ultimately benefits society both in Syria and abroad, setting a model for civic health engagement.
