Strengthening Healthcare Partnerships in Syria: AEOS Thanks GIZ Contributors to Hamburg Forum
Following the successful conclusion of the AEOS Forum on International Collaboration in Hamburg, the Arab-European Ophthalmological Society (AEOS) e.V. extends its sincere gratitude to Ms. Nino Tsouloukidse and Ms. Noura Al-Omari for their valuable contributions.
Their participation brought attention to the role of international cooperation in supporting healthcare recovery, strengthening medical expertise, and developing lasting institutional partnerships.
Sharing Insights into the Hospital Partnerships Programme
In her presentation, Nino Tsouloukidse shared insights into the Förderprogramm Klinikpartnerschaften (Hospital Partnerships Programme) and the ways cooperation between healthcare institutions can support stronger health services.
Her contribution highlighted the importance of knowledge exchange and long-term commitment. Hospital partnerships connect professionals who can learn from one another, share experience, and work together on the challenges facing their institutions and patients.
This perspective resonated with the forum’s focus on translating international collaboration into meaningful support for healthcare professionals and communities.
Supporting Healthcare Recovery in Syria
AEOS is especially grateful for the support of Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) GmbH for its projects in Syria.
After years of crisis, rebuilding healthcare services requires sustained investment in people, skills, and institutions. Hospital partnerships contribute to this work by supporting medical training, strengthening professional capacity, and helping healthcare teams develop services for the communities they serve.
For AEOS, this cooperation is closely connected to its commitment to medical education and accessible, quality eye care. Sharing expertise across borders is an important part of supporting Syrian colleagues and the continued recovery of healthcare services.
Building on a Shared Commitment
The Hamburg forum provided an opportunity to reflect on what committed partners can achieve together. It also reinforced the value of maintaining relationships beyond individual meetings and projects.
AEOS highly values its cooperation with GIZ and looks forward to further collaboration with its network of healthcare partners. Together, we aim to support professional development, knowledge exchange, and sustainable health services in Syria and beyond.
Thank you to Nino Tsouloukidse and Noura Al-Omari for contributing to this dialogue, and to GIZ for supporting our work in Syria. We look forward to building on this partnership through future joint initiatives.
