Annual Meeting in Berlin: Medical Expertise Abroad Supporting Syria’s Healthcare Sector
The Arab-European Ophthalmological Society (AEOS) e.V. held its second annual meeting in Berlin, bringing together an exceptional group of Syrian doctors living abroad to discuss strategies for supporting Syria’s healthcare sector. The event, organized in collaboration with Amal Berlin, focused on structured and sustainable approaches to strengthen medical expertise and infrastructure in the country.
During the meeting, participants exchanged insights on how to improve Syria’s healthcare system through advanced surgical training, specialized medical programs, and stronger partnerships between hospitals and academic institutions. The discussions highlighted the importance of sharing knowledge and experience to help rebuild the healthcare system and ensure long-term development.
Experts emphasized the need for organized training programs for young doctors, the establishment of specialized centers, and the expansion of international cooperation in education and research. The AEOS initiative aims to create a bridge between Arab and European medical professionals, fostering exchange, mentorship, and innovation in ophthalmology and beyond.
The meeting concluded with a commitment to continue collaborative efforts in 2025, with an expanded focus on digital education platforms and international medical exchange programs.
